Julie and James travelled to Geelong to Sadle Benambra up for his 70th start in the Bet365 Geelong Cup Book Now BM64 Handicap over 1400 meters.

Starting at the price of 12/1 and jumping from barrier 12 ,  Declan Bates pushed him to the lead by a length. By the 600 meter mark the lead increased to 2 lengths and then travelled well to the turn. Declan straightened up Benambra with a similar lead and he kept finding to hold on to win by a neck from Littlesnitz and a nose further back to Stylish Assassin in third.

Benambra ran the 1440 meters in 1:27.56 on the good track. It was the 12th win of the career for the rising 10 year old, second for this preparation. He will now go for a spell.

Benambra has now had 70 starts for 12 wins, 6 seconds and 8 thirds for $155,278.
