Ballarat trainer Julie Scott is considering setting Wicklow Town for another spring feature on her home track after capturing the $100,000 Gold Nugget, 1600m, at Sportsbet Ballarat on Sunday.

Scott said she was thinking about starting the five-year-old in the $200,000 Seymour Cup in Ballarat on Sunday, October 10.

Wicklow Town ($6) landed the richest race of his career in the Sportsbet Gold Nugget, getting home from Adelaide Ace ($5) and Skiddaw ($7).

The win gave Scott special satisfaction with the home-bred gelding.

"It's very special, extremely special.

"We just love him. We bred him. It's been an absolute ride with him."

Scott trained his dam Afterburn and the family continues to breed from her.

She was also pleased to see Wicklow prove the experts wrong.

"We always think he's right up to it. Some form analysts don't think he is and he's proved them wrong today."

Scott said she was unsure how far Wicklow Town could go in his career.

"We'll keep raising the bar I suppose. He'll have to run in something a bit better now."

Wicklow Town now has seven wins and more than $300,000 in earnings.

What he has shown in his career that once in form he can retain it.

He won three on end in May-June last year and has won three of his past five starts, including outings at Caulfield and Sandown Lakeside.

Scott has been training in Ballarat since 2015 after relocating from Bairnsdale.

Scott headed up another bumper day for Ballarat stables at a Ballarat Turf Club meeting.
